The Ten at Ten
As a designer, I get all the time what my style is. And truly, I don't think that I have one particular style, thats what makes it so fun! I love mixing and matching different styles and time periods to bring something together that is authentic and curated.
But, if I had to narrow down a style per say, I guess I would have to go with classic modern-- whatever that means, right? In terms of classic modern, that to me means picking classic elements or pieces (like leather, wood, Persian rugs, etc), and fusing them with either more modern elements, or using them in a new way. Take for instance the leather pendant light down below, or the leather chair.
Bringing in vintage items is such a great way to create this style. Just a couple of pieces will do, but it really makes such a a difference, in my opinion.
Pairing your classic elements with some more modern pieces brings a whole new life to your home. The modern pieces don't need to be anything too crazy, but I love the curves of the Crate and Barrel sofa, how its simple, yet elegant at the same time. You're taking basic pieces (like the round mirror) and using them with more ornate, detailed pieces like the linen dresser.
All in all, when you mix these elements, you really start to create something unique and special. Thats why I love this style so much. Because bringing in vintage items, you know that other people aren't going to be able to have them, and it then becomes way more personal for you.
