WHATS UP WITH LAWLESS?
It's a rainy Saturday morning and I'm sitting here with a cup of dark roast coffee, a full stomach of waffles, my laptop, and Ed Sheeran's new album on repeat. While I'm getting ready to spend the day working, I am asking myself "Why am I spending a Saturday working, while most people are still sleeping from going out the night before, or heading off to brunch." But its clear to me that I am just simply not that type of person to sit around all day watching TV. I love working. I love working hard. I love a challenge. I love it. I thrive on it.
I started Lawless Design with the intension of being able to leave the corporate lifestyle in the rearview mirror, never looking back. And, while it has only been a few months that Lawless was born, I am so confident in God's plan for my life, and I know that this is what He wants me to do.
Growing up my dad was always redoing our home. Once one remodel was complete, he was onto the next room. I guess thats how I fell in love with interior design. I saw how remodeling a family room would result in creating a warm, inviting room for the family to gather. When he finished the kitchen, it was a place for us to spend time together preparing a meal after a long day of work. And the dining room connecting to the kitchen, was where we conversed and told each other about our days. It's those type of setting that I want to create for other families, so that they are able to make their own memories just as I did.
My first year of college was dreadful. I absolutely hated it. It wasn't until I opted to join our Alternative Spring Break which went on various Habitat for Humanity Trips. That year we went to Alabama and spent the week building homes for people. I was one of the best experiences of my life. It was so rewarding to see how grateful and elated these families were having us down there to help them. It was that week that I started seeing what God's plan for my life was. I knew that I, too, wanted to help and create homes for people. I spent the following year's spring break in Texas volunteering again, and some various weekends over the course of the years to follow.
You're probably wondering why I decided to call my business Lawless huh? Well, that part was easy. It's a family name. My great grandmother's maiden name to be exact. I love having that family connection to my family.
It's just the beginning, but I am so excited to see where this journey takes me.
Cheers!
